Impressive! (WW)

This is a gingerbread house replica of the mansion at Mt. Vernon. It was made by former White House Pastry Chef, Roland Mesnier . Pretty impressive work! Of course, Logan just wanted to eat it...LOL!

The real deal....

Nice spring...er, winter day!

I can't believe the weather the last couple of days! Yesterday it was a high of 70!! I'm not sure about today, but I think it was in the 60s at least. CRAZY! We decided to take advantage of it. A package arrived from Pa-Bob (my dad) and Meme today for the boys' Christmas. Boy did they love their gifts! One of them was a new wagon! Of course, they needed to test it out right away! Good thing it was nice out because I don't think they would have taken no for an answer!

Thanks Dad and Carla! You made their day! (I'll take pics of them with the other gift soon.)

Lucas stopping to admire his new ride....LOL!

This one is blurry, but I wanted to share it anyway. It is Lucas going down a hill in the wagon....LOL! He thought it was the greatest thing.

I'll post some Christmas pictures later. For some reason, I'm only able to upload one picture at a time right now and it is taking forever!

Brains....

Tonight while tucking Logan in to bed, I was giving him a kiss on his forehead. I smelled something funky and said, "Something stinks". Logan said it was brains. "Brains?", I asked. "Yeah. I had a brain fart!".

Do you have any idea how hard I laughed? He just kept asking me what was so hysterical about a brain fart....LOL!

Oh, the joys of boys!!

Here is the picture that we sent along with Christmas cards this year. I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year!

We didn't use this one, but I liked it so thought I would post it, too.

Yes ir, yes ir.......

Lucas LOVES to sing and I love to listen to him sing. A few of his favorite songs are "Q-S-Y-and P", "Trinkle, trinkle" and "Yes ir, Yes ir". Oh, and lets not forget "Another one bites the dust" and "Fraggle rock"....LOL!

At night, he presses his little head against you and wants you to sing in his ear. I just love hearing his tiny little voice singing along.

I find it funny that he calls the alphabet song "Q-S-Y-and P" because he actually knows the whole song. I must pull out the video camera and get some footage of him singing it.

You may have figured out that "trinkle, trinkle" is Twinkle, twinkle little star. Yes ir, yes ir is Baa baa black sheep.

Sweet Lucas, this one is for you!

Popeye??

Logan has got to be one of the pickiest eaters in the world! Today, I am in shock! I bought myself some creamed spinach because I love it. At least, I love it from Boston Market. Safeway's variety doesn't come close. My husband was making me lunch and asked what I wanted. I told him creamed spinach and toast. Now, I wanted toast on the side, but didn't specify, so he brought me a plate of toast with creamed spinach on top. Logan kept asking to have the same thing, but knowing how picky he is, I kept saying no. I finally decided to let him taste it and he said he liked it. The thing is, he usually says he likes something before he has even had a chance to taste it. However, he said he liked it and wanted some of his own. We told him that it wouldn't be a good thing to lie about it because if he says he likes it and wants it, he will have to eat it.

He assured us that he liked it and wanted it, so a piece of toast with creamed spinach on top was given to him. Watching him take his first bite was the real test to see if he truly liked it. I watched closely and didn't see any grimaces. He happily took the second bite and continued until it was all gone! I am indeed in shock. Plenty of adults wouldn't have been able to eat that and he really liked it. Perhaps he is my little Popeye?!?

Panic at Mt. Vernon....

My in-laws came to visit over the Thanksgiving holiday and we went to Mt. Vernon on Black Friday. Since we've been several times before, I decided to wait outside while they all did the tour of the mansion. Lucas hasn't learned volume control and I figured since he was super noisy last time we went on a tour, he would be again. Anyhow, they had all just finished the Mansion tour and we were all headed to the smokehouse to take a peek inside and Logan tripped on a rock and fell.

Boy, did he carry on. I could not get him to settle down. He was holding his hand up in the air and I could tell that he had scraped it. Finally he managed to calm down enough to let out a wail. "There's a HOLE in ME!!!!". Oh my, he was truly panicked. It was all I could do to not laugh. I managed to get him cleaned up and bandaid on his hand. A little loving from Momma and he was alright. ;)

In Limbo....

I could tell you the economy is not at its best and you'd probably say you are feeling it, too. Well, up until recently, I did not feel the effects too much. But, that all changed on October 14th.

My husband was home from work for Columbus day and instead of being out enjoying the day doing something fun, we were stuck home watching some workers put in a new drain system and sump pump in our basement, along with a new window and window well. The next day, he went to work as usual. The boys and I had gone to the library and were on our way home when I got a phone call from him. I could tell something was off. He asked me how close to home I was and said he'd call me back once I was home. So, of course I am wondering what is going on. Turns out, his company let him go. They told him his last day of work would be that coming Friday. Yep--we had a full FOUR days to prepare!!

So, here we are a month later and still nothing. I really didn't feel too stressed in the beginning and somehow I'm still not too bad. But, I do have to admit that I am starting to think a job may be in my future. It seems that my husband may not be able to go into a new job making what he was at his old job. If you add the fact that the housing market in this area is absolutely ridiculous, we aren't in very good shape. I know the housing market has taken a hit in most places, but it seems to be especially bad here. A house 2 doors down is for sale for about 1/3 what we paid for ours. Not to mention that ours was a fixer-upper and the one for sale has had a lot of work done on it. We should be able to make it a couple more months, maybe 3, but beyond on that it starts to get ugly.

In case you are curious about what my husband was doing, he was a DoD contractor.

Homeschooling--Lesson #5

Lesson number 5 was N--nest (animal homes). Another great week!

We read some books:

I pulled these from our shelf at home to read with this lesson.

We did some crafts:

Logan drew this while listening to "Clair de Lune"written by French composer Claude Debussy. If you look closely, you will see a ladder leading to his bed and music notes. He listens to classical music every night, so when I told him to draw what came to mind when he heard the song, this is what he came up with.

We made some chocolate nests:

And here are the pages from the workbook:

Pumpkin fun...

So, I am a bit late on sharing these, but wanted to anyway. We went to the pumpkin patch the day before Halloween and had lots of fun. What we didn't do is buy a pumpkin. I thought they were over priced, so I figured we'd get one somewhere else. So, we went to a grocery store, but they were all out of pumpkins. Walking back out to the van, I saw a "pumpkin patch" at the other end of the parking lot. I had already told Logan we would get a pumpkin, so we walked on over. Well, they were 9 cents less per pound...LOL! However, the guy told me that if I bought a pumpkin with a broken stem, he'd take $2 off per pumpkin. If you know me, you know I can't pass up a sale. So, off we went to find two good looking pumpkins with broken stems. Here are the fruits of our labor:

Arm Ankle...

The boys LOVE to rough-house with their Daddy! Lucas is very light and it is really easy to toss him about and swing him around. He was having a grand time with Daddy and Logan heard the commotion and had to join in. Lucas was running around saying, "I wanna fing (swing), Daddy". Of course his daddy obliges, to which he says, "Fing me again, Daddy!". Well, Logan can hardly contain himself. "Swing me too, Daddy!". At first they were taking turns nicely, but Lucas hasn't really mastered that art yet, so he was trying to get in on the action. Daddy thought he would just take one in each arm. He lifted them up, one in each arm and that is when I heard it. "Daddy, you almost breaked my arm ankle!!". My goodness, Logan, how many times to I have to tell you it is a wrist, not an arm ankle!! (We'll get to break, broke, broken soon enough.)

Happy Halloween!
