I was shocke...Yes, model rockets can go quite far. I was shocked the first time I launched one. I recommend the movie "October Sky" for your family. You can also learn a lot from the TV series "From the Earth to the Moon" which is on DVD. And also a bit from the movie "Apollo 13". But some aspects of these may be too adult for your child.
